How do I automatically delete mail for certain addresses?

If the catchall (or default) mailbox is not needed, and you do not wish to receive mail for addresses at your domain that do not have defined mailboxes, the default mailbox can be set to "discard with error at SMTP time". This will reject any mail for addresses not defined in your control panel. This method is useful for clients who do not use the default mailbox for any reason.

For other addresses under the account that are no longer needed, a forwarder can be set to discard mail. Under the forwarding option in the mail management area of the control panel, create a forwarder for the affected address, and set the destination to

:fail:

If the affected address had (or has) a POP mailbox associated with it, the POP mailbox should be deleted prior to creating the forwarder.

Note that the leading and terminating colons are required when using this designation. Failure to include them will result in syntax errors and the domain will not receive mail to valid addresses until the error is corrected.
